The day before we left, we borrowed the car for a day trip -
we started in Palm Desert and drove South East to the Salton Sea. STINKY!
Those things that look like dead fish all over the beach, ARE dead fish.

We had a picnic lunch at Anza - Borrego State park and
spent some time in the visitor center and walking on the nature trail.

Then, because Brendan heard the roads might be closed we headed West, into the mountains to see if we could get to Julien. We could!
They had just gotten 13 inches of snow... very unusual for them.

And, then since we were less than an hour from the coast,
we continued to head West and South towards San Diego.
We went to Ocean Beach where there is a LONG fishing pier!

Then it was North and East back to Palm Desert from San Diego via Moreno Valley - it was a long day making a large lovely loop!
Now we are back to rain, rain, rain in Washington.
So thankful for some Vitamin D!
